Fairy Lights & Festive Delights: Christmas Sparkles at The Savoy with Champagne Laurent-Perrier

This Christmas, The Savoy, in partnership with Champagne Laurent-Perrier, will launch a series of enchanting activations inspired by the magical history of fairy lights. When entering The Savoy, guests will encounter a festive winter landscape, with the popular forecourt snow making a return, fragrant pine trees, Alpine-style wooden chalets, and a bespoke Laurent-Perrier Héritage mobile bar. The hotel’s renowned restaurants and bars will feature seasonal menus, including Festive Afternoon Tea in the vibrant new dining destination launching in November.

A tribute to the Fairy Lights of London

Fairy lights were first seen at the Savoy Theatre in its first show, Gilbert and Sullivan’s Iolanthe, which opened nearly 150 years ago. Tiny electric lights powered by small battery packs were hidden beneath the folds of the fairy dancers’ costumes, and another three set into the coronets worn on their heads. The effect was sensational, and the little lamps were christened ‘fairy lights’, sparking a tradition that’s lasted a lifetime.

Now, twinkling fairy lights will light up The Savoy once again as The Florist at The Savoy team, led by Belinda Bowles, transform the hotel’s interiors from Sunday 17 November. The new boutique will offer an exclusive selection of seasonal gifts, including bespoke advent calendars with handmade chocolates, plush Christmas Stockings in a luxurious green velvet, limited-edition Halcyon Days baubles inspired by the hotel’s iconic glass-domed atrium, and a gold candle in The Savoy’s signature scent.

Laurent-Perrier Winter Chalets at The Savoy

From 1 December, a mobile Héritage Bar by Laurent-Perrier will be located in The Savoy’s forecourt. Peppered in fresh snow and topped with glistening fairy light garlands, the Champagne Bar will be available for guests to enjoy a glass of the new Champagne of the House, Héritage, borne out of the savoir-faire of Grand Siècle. Laurent-Perrier’s iconic Cuvée Rosé will also be available for seasonal sipping.

Nestled in the forecourt will be two chalet-style wooden cabins, adorned in fairy lights and dressed in warming faux fur blankets. Each seating up to six guests, a limited-edition menu will offer seasonal delicacies inspired by Alpine flavours, paired with Laurent-Perrier Champagnes or a decadent gold-leaf Christmas cocktail. Exuding festive charm, these cosy chalets will be the perfect place to soak up the magical atmosphere of The Savoy at Christmas.

Season’s Eatings at The Savoy

The Savoy’s renowned restaurants and bars will give festive dining a delicious new dimension, from cocktails at the fabled American Bar to a Festive Afternoon Tea in the vibrant new dining destination opening in November at the heart of the hotel. At Restaurant 1890 by Gordon Ramsay, a culinary journey takes guests through a carefully curated tasting menu served alongside hand-selected wine pairings, while at The River Restaurant, locally sourced seafood accompanies traditional festive dishes. At the iconic Savoy Grill, traditional yet refined dishes will delight the palette, from the famous Beef Wellington and exquisite Lobster Thermidor to dry-aged beef beautifully grilled on a wood-fired charcoal grill.

There’s Nowhere Like The Savoy At Christmas

From its prized position in the heart of the West End, with views over a ribbon of the River Thames, there’s nowhere quite like The Savoy at Christmas. Those looking to indulge in all of the festivities can book an exclusive Laurent-Perrier Christmas package, including a two-night stay with a bottle of The Savoy House Champagne Laurent-Perrier Héritage on arrival, breakfast for two each morning, and a dining experience in an Alpine Chalet with a Laurent-Perrier pairing.

About Laurent-Perrier

Originally founded in 1812, the House of Laurent-Perrier has been defined by its pioneering role in innovating champagne throughout its history. Internationally recognised as one of the foremost names in champagne, its success can be attributed to a deliberate policy of challenging conventional techniques, whilst honouring traditional values: a respect for nature and the terroir above all, a passion for quality, and strong, lasting relationships.

The Laurent-Perrier portfolio consists of eight iconic champagnes, including Grand Siècle, originally launched in 1959 and blends three outstanding vintages to create the perfect year. In 2018, Laurent-Perrier celebrated half a century of its Cuvée Rosé – the original “modern” rosé champagne -  born in 1968 by defying conventions and using innovative wine-making techniques. The brand’s innovative spirit continues into the present day, with the recently updated super-premium range, which features two new exceptional releases - Laurent-Perrier Héritage and Laurent-Perrier Brut Millésimé 2015.

Laurent-Perrier’s success must also be attributed to the energy of the de Nonancourt family, headed by the late Bernard de Nonancourt, who assumed control in 1948. Working in a demanding business environment, Bernard preserved the independence of his champagne house and its related values, taking the house from one of hundreds to its current position as one of the region’s leading houses. These same principles guide the current management team led by his two daughters, Alexandra Pereyre de Nonancourt and Stéphanie Meneux de Nonancourt.

Additionally, as growers and producers of fine Champagne wines, Laurent-Perrier is committed to ceasing all practices or actions which may irremediably damage the environment. This pledge is translated and put into action in all activities, showing a continual respect for the environment and natural resources. The House’s long-term policy in grape growing and wine elaboration is based on sustainable methods.
