This festive season, The Savoy celebrates ‘All the Fun of the Fair’, with decorations inspired by the spectacle, experience and illusion of traditional British fairgrounds.

A talented team of Savoy colleagues across the florist, carpentry and engineering teams have been working hard (and in secret) over the past three months, finally bringing everything together throughout the night on Saturday 24 November to transform the entire hotel into a festive fairground. On Sunday morning, guests woke up to ‘All the Fun of the Fair’, with the highlight being an interactive Helter Skelter standing 15ft tall in the Front Hall in place of a more traditional tree.

Above the famous Savoy sign sits a striking display featuring an illuminated and hand-painted skyline scene of iconic London landmarks, reimagined as popular fairground attractions; St Paul’s has become a carousel, the Gherkin reinvented as a helter skelter, and the London Eye transformed into a ferris wheel. Taking centre stage in the Thames Foyer, the heart of the hotel and where guests will enjoy The Savoy’s festive afternoon tea, is a beautiful carousel with a red and gold ‘circus top’, bespoke horses and twinkly lighting.

At this most magical time of year, The Savoy’s renowned restaurants and bars are full of festive cheer. Guests can toast the season with cocktails in the World’s Best Bar, the American Bar, or relax in the glamorous setting of the Beaufort Bar with a cocktail from the recently launched menu, Music, Magic and Drama. Festive Afternoon Tea takes place every day in the Thames Foyer from 1pm, before the setting transforms for live evening entertainment featuring some of London’s best musicians. Kaspar’s at The Savoy is a vibrant setting for seasonal fare, and Simpson’s in the Strand recently launched a new Bill of Fare celebrating dishes across this famous restaurant’s 190-year history. Special menus have been created for Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve in both restaurants with the best of British ingredients taking prominence.

New Year’s Eve at The Savoy

Guests will be invited to step Behind the Red Curtain for an evening of theatrically-inspired celebrations throughout The Savoy. As the New Year waits in the wings for its cue, drinking and dining will take place in the hotel’s renowned venues; a set five-course dinner in Kaspar’s and the Thames Foyer, champagne and canapés in the Beaufort Bar, and a glamorous gala event in the Lancaster Ballroom. Each venue will feature live entertainment by masters of magic, spells and illusion, and London’s finest musicians will provide the soundtrack to the night. As midnight draws near, guests will be in the most exclusive location from which to view London’s spectacular fireworks display.
