VIN + OMI showcase their A/W collection in The Savoy’s iconic Lancaster Ballroom

On February 14th, VIN + OMI will be showcasing their A/W 2020 collection in the iconic Lancaster Ballroom at The Savoy. With sustainability at the forefront of The Savoy’s activities for the new decade, the luxury five-star hotel is proud to continue its brand partnership with the ground-breaking sustainable fashion brand, VIN + OMI. Having previously hosted the debut of their S/S collection in autumn last year, this February The Savoy will host its second VIN + OMI fashion show, which will feature the VIN + OMI designed Savoy eco scarves, created using the hotel’s plastic waste.
Internationally recognised fashion designers, VIN + OMI are known for their innovative approach to sustainability and are one of the leading pioneering eco fashion brands of today. From their inception in 2008, VIN + OMI have created a variety of fabrics from a unique nettle fabric made from Prince Charles’s waste nettles from Highgrove which was launched at the Savoy last September. They have also developed ‘eco latex’, ‘Alumi’ a metal fabric made from waste cans, through to rPET silk-like fabric made entirely from salvaged plastic. The latter is The Savoy’s fabric of choice; using plastic waste only sourced from The Savoy, the striking checked print of the scarf with nods to pop culture showcases the potential of upcycling. Other pieces created by this dynamic duo have been worn by the likes of Kate Moss, Lady Gaga, Beyoncé and Michelle Obama and their muse Debbie Harry.
The Savoy, a Fairmont managed hotel, continues to lead the luxury hotel market in its sustainability efforts. To date, we have supported in a number of hotel based initiatives, to name a few:
  • Water reduction – guests can opt in to decline daily cleaning of linens by placing a custom ‘Linen Reuse London Bus’ on their bed. This bus is made from reclaimed wood from fallen trees in St. James’s Park.
  • The Savoy’s onsite table-water bottling plant reduces glass and packaging waste, as well as carbon emissions. This process prevents an average of 105 tonnes of glass from being recycled annually.
The Savoy are proud to be partnered with VIN + OMI, a sustainability brand whose ideals encourage creativity and flexibility within fashion, showcasing the full potential of our household waste. They will join the likes of Christian Dior, who famously introduced the ‘new look’ skirt in 1950 when he made his British debut hosting a runway show in the Lancaster Ballroom; a destination that 30 years on continues to host revolutionary fashion movements.
